Our Real Life
It promises to be a great vacation when you start things off with MEAT CONES!! Yes, cones filled with artisan cured meats from Boccalone did not disappoint.
We stopped for a gluten-free sweet treat at Sideboard Lafayette to fuel up before heading to explore the Red Woods! The boys read books and played Pokemon while Matt and I had almond milk lattes.
An anniversary trip wouldn’t be complete without a few sentimental moments… We got to take the boys to a comic book store that their late-uncle always wanted to show them, and of course they loved it just as much as he thought they would! So glad that his memory joined us on this trip.
I wanted to update my wedding ring and had been looking for months for the perfect piece to represent Matt & I’s love. When I realized we’d be in California during our actual anniversary I knew I’d find the perfect ring on our travels! I immediately knew where I wanted to start my search, at Lireille in Oakland.
I’ve never been a diamond girl, something I realized too late with my wedding set. But this ring! It’s 3-D printed gold “diamond” set in a white gold tension set band. These rings cannot be sized. And it fit me perfectly. There are no words. It’s just everything I wanted. I feel weird about “changing” my ring after 15 years, but it’s a material object that represents me – and it’s not surprising I’d change over 15 years. I love everything it reminds me of!
This happy boy recommends you order “the Wesley” at Mission Heirloom – avocado & bacon on waffle slider sandwich with coconut syrup. We had AMAZING super-nutrient-filled food here, and had a blast meeting everyone that stopped by to say hi and have their books signed! Thanks for taking the time to visit with us!
California has been wonderful to us and we’ve enjoyed ourselves immensely so far. We’re still on vacation, so stay tuned for a continuation of our travel adventures in next week’s newsletter!
Our Favorite WEST COAST INSPIRED Eats
All the fresh seafood, fresh produce, incredible food, and ocean air in California inspired to share some of our favorite “west coast inspired” eats!
Epic Salmon Bites
Because, hello… seafood! We’ve been enjoying plenty on our trip. But if you’re inland these Maple Dill Salmon Bites from Epic will have to do.
Kelp Seasoning Salt
One of my favorite ways to get extra plant nutrients- I shake this seaweed salt on salads, veggies, rice and more for added flavor and minerals.
Avocado Oil Spray
Avocado oil is one of our favorite fats, and we’ve been seeing it all over the place on our trip. We especially love cooking with it, and love the handiness of this spray oil.
Inka Plantain Chips
Because what else do you need for all the dips?! These plantain chips are one of our favorite vehicles for guacamole (and more!).
