We hope you had a safe and festive Halloween! Ours was awesome, as usual. We love doing a family costume and decorating the house and garage in full Halloween garb! The boys are at an age where they love participating in our mega-love of everything Halloween! So. Much. Fun.
We were able to avoid the bags of candy from the trick-or-treating aftermath, and instead have been enjoying a much healthier sweet treat: The Date Lady Pure Date Syrup, which is SO GOOD on, well, anything – but especially pancakes with fresh whipped cream. Thank goodness for One Stop Paleo Shop or we wouldn’t have discovered this gem!
Two words: breakfast pizza. Recipe courtesy of the brand new The Paleo Cupboard Cookbook! Wes and I shared one with pumpkin (instead of tomato), bacon, greens and drippy eggs! And because it was a breakfast for dinner night, we also hadSimple Mills Pancakes, which literally take a minute to whip up!
An even quicker dinner this week was our Red Robin Banzai Burgers (<–recipe!!) served with Yuca (frozen, already cut, just bake), and frozen organic Normandy veggies from Costco. Very Kid-Friendly Real-Food Eats
If your kids are fruit snack and fruity candy obsessed, try switching them over to an equally-good, but much healthier real-food option, like Stretch Island Fruit Leather orPure Fruit and Veggie Strips. We promise they won’t miss the artificial stuff!
Our boys love to dip things, so we make sure to always have healthy dipping options available. They love Wholly Guacamole, especially with baby carrots or Inka Plantain Chips. These things are so easy to have on hand, especially because the guacamole comes in individual serving packs.
Another dipping favorite is Tessemae’s Honey Mustard, which we always serve with any preparation of chicken, or Wesley’s favorite: sliced roast beef!
We’ve been loving Rx Bars (made with egg whites) for a while now, and their new Pumpkin Spice flavor is incredible!! So much so, that the boys polished off an entire box by themselves in a week’s time!
If you’re struggling at the dinner table, try a couple of our old secret weapons: Food Face Plates and Monster Bowls and Spoon Sets. It keeps them interested for longer, and if it gets them even a little bit more excited about the food on their plate, then it’s worth it!
