Hi Friends, here’s a look at our week!
You know the feeling – it’s been a long day, and you can’t seem to find the motivation to workout (even though you know it’s exactly what you need). Even putting on your strong woman socks seems like a chore. After a few killer days in the office this week, the boys talked Stacy into working out on a day that she just wasn’t feeling motivated. And then she FINALLY hit a personal record she’s been wanting for weeks! All thanks to our awesome and inspiring Paleo Kids.
Speaking of super kids, we recently realized how negatively electronics was affecting one of our boys. Just like watching and listening to how their bodies react to food, we did the same with his consumption of electronics. His body is literally unable to control itself while using them. Although it was HEARTBREAKING to take away something he loves and hearing how upset he was, but we did it because we want him be his best – we’re not here to always be his best friends. And wouldn’t you know it, a day later the boys were happily reading Fox in Sox together and playing with each other. Parenting can be so hard, but so rewarding when you see that you are doing something right!
In super awesome news, as you likely heard already, we’ve loved Costco for years, especially for trying to feed a house full of hungry, growing boys. Costco is stocking new Paleo-friendly items all the time (including Beyond Bacon!!!). Finn and Stacy stopped by our local store this past weekend to see Beyond Bacon in the flesh (and signed a whooole lot of copies!). It is surreal. Unbelievable. MIND-BLOWINGLY AWESOME. We’re so thrilled, and so thankful. Costco is reporting great sales and has asked us to do some book signings – so be on the look out for information from us on signings planned for Fairfax, VA, Austin, TX, Orlando, FL and maybe some other locations soon!
Since Stacy has been working on eating more protein and increasing her omega-3s, she’s been loving her usual big lunch salads with Wild Planet Tuna (and a lot of other goodies, like dried cherries, pistachios, and Tessemae’s dressing). Much of it thanks to Costco! We just wrote an EPIC post with a FREE PRINTABLE SHOPPING LIST with all our favorites Costco finds on it —> GET IT HERE!
You know what else is awesome – when electronics are off wonderful things happen! This is what’s on the other side of dirty diapers and sleepless nights, folks! These two adorable chefs preparing us breakfast in bed, delivering it while declaring “Happy Snow Day.” Such thoughtful, sweet boys finding ways to keep busy melts my heart!
And when we’re not being buried in snow (we’ve had so many snow days lately!) Stacy and her little buddy like to go on weekend date outings, running errands, hitting The Edge StrongMan gym on Sunday, and having lunch after. And if Finn’s picking, it will no doubt be a gluten-free hamburger with avocado, mushrooms and bacon at Smashburger who uses REAL ingredients like butter and tallow while serving sides like Veggie Frites and side salad!
Congrats to Our Friends!
There is a lot of Paleo goodness happening lately! Check out the absolutely beautiful AND informative book Homegrown Paleo Cookbook by Diana Rodgers. Stacy and Sarah talked with Diana on this podcast episode and they learned all about backyard chickens, beekeeping, and starting a garden. This book is insanely useful!
My Paleo Patisserie by Jen Hullet looks like it’s going to be absolutely phenomenal. We can’t wait to see this book that’s anticipated to be the most. gorgeous. food. ever. An artisan approach to grain-free baking (I’m super proud to have helped her come up with the word “artisan” because I think it speaks volume to the type of food she prepares), this book features exquisite elegance and rustic beauty of traditional patisserie baking with a Paleo-inspired approach.
Our good friend Sarah, aka The Paleo Mom made a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT this week with the release of the trailer for Paleo Bites, which could be the first Paleo-focused cooking show on network television. She’ll need the support of Paleo eaters everywhere! GO HERE —> To read more about the show and her call to action for us all to learn how to help.
Jen Sinkler has been releasing FREE videos in anticipation of her Lift Weights Faster 2 Program, which will available on March 10th. Watch the free video: Little Equipment, Big Results and learn more about her upcoming program! Eearlier this week Stacy used her technique for pull-ups and got a great work-out. Plus, she’s super entertaining to watch and a great glamazon Stacy admires immensely!
Fun-loving, body-rocking gal Summer Innanen has open early enrollment for her 9-week Rock Your Body Program (which starts March 16th). This is for the person who feels their desire to lose weight rules their life, or who is either on the Paleo band-wagon or vowing to get back on. Get a free preview training video here!

Do you know what emulsifiers are? Do the words “lecithin” “carrageenan” and “xanthan” ring a bell? They might be in some of the “Paleo” foods you eat! And here is a great article that explains —> How Emulsifiers are Messing with Our Guts and Are Making Us Fat.
Stop! Don’t throw away those egg shells! Read —> Why You Shouldn’t Do That.
We love a good beverage. Whether it be a morning pick-me-up, or a mug-o-broth nightcap, I consider myself a connoisseur of healthy and fun beverages.
Delicious Obsessions has been an incredible replacement for my morning coffee. It makes me feel good, and I love the earthy, coffee-esque taste (see coupon below!).
Other mornings I enjoy (thoroughly enjoy!) a Matcha Almond Milk Latte (matcha is powdered green tea). I taim always go for almond milk without emulsifiers by making my own (recipe in Real Life Paleo) or seeking out Whole Foods 365 brand, although no one’s perfect and sometimes this becomes part of our 20% non-paleo-perfectionist foods.
Another warm beverage favorite is brewed cacao – you actually brew cocoa beans like coffee for a deep, dark smooth drink (coupon for this one below!). I add this BPA-free and additive-free coconut milk to make it smooth and creamy and out of this world.
And when we’re wanting something cold and bubbly, for a special treat we’ll grab a Live Soda (we love all of the flavors!) or a GTs Enlightened Synergy Organic Raw Kombucha. Gingerberry is a favorite among the whole household.
The foundation of life, water, also found at Costco (and available here!), are my new favorite glass water bottles. Having one of these around really does help me get in enough water! And they have a silicon sleeve to protect them from rowdy boys.
