This is Paleo in real life – our real life – with three hungry boys and a very busy schedule!
We have been loving your feedback about sharing our weekly meal plans! To read more about why we’ve been meal planning, how it saves our family time and money, reduces waste, and helps us maintain a Paleo lifestyle, check out our first installment of ‘What We Ate Wednesday’ here, including how we approach creating the plan together as a family in the most economical and sustainable way.
This week we included the Carrot & Orange Smoothies from Bare Bones Broth Cookbook and are thrilled to share the recipe with you! Smoothies with broth, yes broth! Healing, nourishing broth – and these smoothies are really good!! Find the recipe at the bottom of this post!

This week’s dinners were:
Monday: Breakfast Pizza, Fried Calamari and Salad
Breakfast pizza is becoming a dinnertime staple in our house, and we made it even easier by using Simple Mills Pizza Crust Mix. We paired it with fried calamari for a little more protein and a green salad for a little more veg!

—> Fried Calamari made simply by dusting the clean and prepped squid into seasoned Otto’s Cassava Flour then frying in our counter-top frier (no recipe needed)
Tuesday: Eggs in Purgatory, Rosemary Focaccia and Brussels Sprouts
This was an incredible dinner filled with so many Italian flavors!

Wednesday: Egg Drop Soup and Shrimp Egg Foo Young
Asian take-out night made SUPER simple, quick, and easy with nourishing, yummy soup and shrimp, squash and egg patties!

Thursday: Leftovers
Since we’ve been meal planning, we’ve found ourselves at the end of the week with a fridge full of leftovers. Good problem to have, if you ask us! Thursday of this week was designated as ‘you pick’ leftovers night!
Friday: Japchae with Beef and Walnut Prawns
Food for a crowd – everybody loved these two great dishes after open gym on Friday night! These are two recipes we keep in regular rotation, and love to make when we have guests over.

♥ Breakfast Broth Smoothie
Flipping through the new Bare Bones Broth Cookbook, we all agreed that the Breakfast Broth Smoothies needed to be on the menu this week! A smoothie with broth?! We think it’s genius! And delicious! Made with vegetables, too, the boys gulped them down, and could barely even detect the nutrient dense goodness inside. Recipe for Carrot & Orange Smoothie below!

- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 cups Beef Bone Broth
- 3/4 tsp ground turmeric
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup ice
Instructions
- In a blender, combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth, about 5 minutes.
- Serve immediately, or store, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
