Hi Friends- here’s a look at our week!
We celebrated the birth of a very special boy this week: Stacy’s mini-me, Finn. He is such a joy, so full of love and positivity – we’re so thankful he has been in our lives for seven years now. Due to logistics problems, he had a three-day birthday celebration, complete with three desserts, including this Neapolitan beauty (that he chose himself for his special day) from My Paleo Patisserie. It was light, luscious, popped right out of the pan, and even the non-Paleos at the party were COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY.
There have been a lot of beautiful Paleo books out in the last few years, but My Paleo Patisserie seriously, literally takes the cake. You might as well be WALKING AROUND A FINE FRENCH BAKERY while flipping through it. This is artisan Paleo pastry at its finest! To hear what Finn thinks about it —> CLICK HERE.
You may have seen Stacy lifting a shed before, but this week she lifted a shed with not one, but two grown adults on it! It’s so wonderful to have a GROUP OF SUPPORTIVE STRONG WOMEN there to cheer you on! After all, Strong Women lift each other up, not cut each other down – right?! Can’t say enough good things about my team at The Edge check them and Ladies Lift Here out for connections in your area. (The whole video is on Instagram)
Stacy found a new super-love-it-can’t-live-without-it product! MCT Oil Toothpaste from the The Dirt (coupon code at the bottom!) and it is amaaaaazing. The taste is ever so slightly chocolatey, and perfectly minty – plus, the tube comes with its own twister key to help roll and squeeze it as you use it! It’s the little things folks.
We LOVE A GOOD BURGER on Sunday afternoons post workout. Smashburger is one of Finn’s favorite restaurant choices! A gluten-free burger for the boy, burger on lettuce with a side of veggie fries for Stacy, plus salads, sweet potato fries – are you drooling? Yeah, Sarah from Primal Bites who went with us after lifting at The Edge didn’t complain, either!
Speaking of INSANELY GOOD FOOD, how about this calamari, that we made IN HOUSE, courtesy of our deep dryer (which we love), and the chicken fingers coating from Real Life Paleo (it’s so versatile!). Yep, it was as good as it looked. We ate it with leftover Smoked Chicken and Asian Vinagrette Salad to complete the meal.
Congrats to Our Friends!
My Paleo Patisserie by Jenni Hulet is now available for pre-order on Amazon. It’s worth it for the NEAPOLITAN CAKE and MARSHMALLOW RECIPES alone! We can’t wait to make tons of things from this book – in fact, the boys have already earmarked several recipes!
Congrats to Nom Nom Paleo on their nomination for a James Beard Award for their book Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans. If you don’t know, that is like the Oscars of the food world!! So proud and delighted that a PALEO COOKBOOK WAS NOMINATED! They so deserve it!
For anyone on the AUTOIMMUNE PROTOCOL or just wanting to eat super-clean food, you’ll want to check out Nourish: The Paleo Healing Cookbook by Rachael Bryant. It was released last week and we have loved flipping through our copy!
Stress is a huge part of health. Learning to LOVE MY BODY and appreciate it or what it can do and not what it looks like was one of the healthiest decisions I ever made! I love this article about —> LOVING THE SKIN YOU’RE IN.
Need a fun Easter idea? As parents of Paleo kids, we’re always looking for ways to make holidays and celebrations special, without the center being candy, sugar and more sugar. Which is why we love this Easter egg hunt idea! —> EASTER EGG FITNESS TREASURE HUNT.
We’ve got travel foods on the brain lately as we pack and get ready to head out for a week-long vacation in Florida! We consider ourselves expert snack-pakers, in fact, we even wrote a book about it. FIND IT HERE —> Paleo To Go.
Whether for the office desk drawer, or a late night standing at the counter with the jar and a spoon snack, we love Nikki’s Coconut Butter. And they have THE BEST FLAVORS, check them out:
Sea Snacks are SALTY CRUNCHY roasted sea weed (the perfect way to add healthy sea veggies to your diet!) and are great right out of the package, or crumbled over a salad. Inka Plantain Chips and Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips (cooked in coconut oil) are our other salty crunchy favorites great for completing a simple lunch (or our 28 hours in the car to and from Florida- eeeeek!). Wish us luck!
For a just slightly sweet pick-me-up, we have been loving WholeMe Clusters (think granola-like) which also have AWESOME FLAVORS! Cinnamon Banana Chip and Lemon Berry Chia are total winners. Find them at One Stop Paleo Shop.
For ultimate portability (you can fit ’em right in your pocket) we can’t get enough of our favorite Rx Bars (coupon code below!) and Larabars – they have so many awesome flavors, we love love (yes, double love) Cashew Cookie and Cherry Pie.
We do enjoy regular, straight-from-the-tree fruit, but also think that Go-Go Squeezersand Dried Fruit Chips are awesome, and are a great way to keep the boys excited about healthy fruit options instead of other, more sugary treats. They also don’t bruise or go bad quickly… which often happens when we take fresh fruit on the road.
Traveling with meat is a must for us. It is the ultimate fuel – which we’ll need for our days running around Disney! Steve’s PaleoGoods makes some of the best jerky, because sometimes when you’re trying to pack three boys for a week long trip, you can’t find time to make it yourself. Also on our must-travel with list is EPIC bars andUS Wellness Meats Pork Rinds.
