Hi Friends, here’s a look at our week!
For the boys’ spring break vacation this year, we packed up the car and road tripped down to Orlando for a great adventure with our friend Russ, from the The Domestic Man, and his family. It has been an ABSOLUTE BLAST! Time of our lives. Lifelong memories made by all. Tears of joy, belly-laughs, and smiles from ear to ear.
And we CAN’T WAIT TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT! We’ll have a big recap blog post, complete with the highlights of the trip, and our recommendations for where to find the best food options for every park and the surrounding areas!
Here’s a SNEAK PEAK at some of the fun we’ve been having! Legoland (little boys’ dream, and actually really cool for adults too), gluten-free doughnuts (um, incredible) and we even found Peruvian chicken (almost as delicious as the recipe from our book, Real Life Paleo)!
You know we can’t resist Peruvian Chicken…
Does it seem like, as a society, we are on a “love yourself” kick?! I LOVE READING stories like this in mainstream media —> Mom of 3 (with Stretch Marks) Posts Inspirational Bikini Photo (and it Goes Viral!) It reminds me of time I wrote about (and BARED ALL to the world) what it looks like to lose 135 Pounds.
I’m also crazy-loving this new ad by Dove —> What it Looks Like to Speak to Others the Way We Speak to Ourselves. If you’ve ever beaten yourself up over a laugh line, a stretch mark, or a FEW POUNDS GAINED, then this one’s for you!
Paleo gets it right again! Mainstream media covering the the science of resistant starch, glycogen, and the effect of coconut oil added to the rice cooking process. —>Scientists Have Discovered a Simple Way to Cook Rice that Dramatically Cuts the Calories. FASCINATING! Team white rice!
As a family with three young boys, who have been doing this Paleo thing for five years now, WE’RE WELL-SEASONED in the art of making the holidays fun and memorable with healthy treats and thoughtful non-food gift items too.
If you’re a last minute holiday prep kind of person (no judgement!) and are still wondering what to stuff in those EASTER BASKETS this year, here are some quick and easy suggestions!
The holiday just doesn’t seem complete without a little chocolate – am I right?! We’re happy to offer the boys some healthy options like Sun Cups and Alter Eco Dark Chocolate Bars. And if you just have to have a jellybean, try Surf Sweets for a better alternative. Annie’s Fruit Snacks are one of the boys’ favorites, and perfect for putting in plastic eggs!
A treat or two is great, but we also like to fill Easter baskets with non-food items and a few practical-fun things too! Silly Putty is a good ol’ classic. And it even comes in its own egg, as if it was made just for an Easter basket. I played with this as a kid, so I love being able to pass along the tradition.
Pokemon Booster Card Packs are another thing that kids enjoy getting! And believe it or not – our boys also love Lip Balm (especially the Peppermint “Grunt” from Primal Life Organics). An Easter basket is the perfect opportunity to give them something they like, but also something they need. Sneaky parents, we are.
For filling Easter eggs, temporary tattoos (which the boys go crazy for) and money (which they go even crazier for!) are great, non-food options.
Making sure that the boys never feel left out because they don’t eat conventional junk-candy is important to us, and we love finding ways to celebrate the holiday in a festive but healthy way.
