Hi Friends- Here’s a look at our week!
The House of Gainz (our garage-gym) got a HUGELY AWESOME ADDITION last week: a chalkboard wall! Finn already made himself a program for the week, the boys drew a picture of our family in the gym together (which melted Stacy’s heart) and we’ve already been able to post some PRs on the board too! And seriously though, who doesn’t love a giant chalkboard… it finally feels legit!
It has been nicely low key here lately, spending our evenings lifting together and eating dinner as a family. And then we all enjoyed WATCHING the Crossfit Games 15.1 announcement and have been BINGING on our newly discovered Downton Abbey. Seriously, if you’re not watching that show, check it out. We stream it free through our Amazon Prime membership! And, while watching, “indulge” in a healing NIGHTCAP of broth (you might have guessed we’d tell you that one!).
Snow days are especially perfect for cuddling and game-playing, and we’ve been taking full advantage! We BUILT FORTS, had PILLOW FIGHTS, and Stacy and the boys enjoyed Paleo Treats (especially these almond butter coconut chocolate cups!) and played a rousing game of Clue while Matt shoveled snow over and over again.
Speaking of treats, if you follow Stacy on Instagram, you’ve seen that she has been tweaking her diet in response to the blood work she had done (read all about it here!). She has been tracking macros (fat, protein, and carbs) and continues to being mindful of micronutrients (nutrient-density).
She was afraid at first because in the past she’s struggled with disordered eating, and didn’t want to do anything that might trigger it or cause her to become OBSESSIVE. But, it’s been going well so far, and the hope is that we’ll see good results when we re-test in a month.
And, if you’ve ever wanted to see what a food blogger really eats – you can see every one of Stacy’s meals on My Fitness Pal!
Congrats To Our Friends!
Jen Sinkler’s Lift Weights Faster 2 teaser videos will launch on March 3rd! See videos like 3 Rotational Movements to Give Your Workout a Twist and Little Equipment, Big Results throughout the week ahead.
We’re getting super-excited for the release of two different books that we were honored to write the forward to!
One Pot Paleo will be a great resource for simple, flavorful, litte-mess healthy Paleo dinners! Jenny from Paleo Foodie Kitchen focuses on less mess and less time in the kitchen in her upcoming book… and who couldn’t use that?!
Down South Paleo from Jennifer at Predominately Paleo has our mouths watering for Country-Fried Steak and Lump Crab Hush Puppies! We can’t wait for her delectable southern recipes adapted for gluten-free and Paleo eaters.

I worry about too much oversight on how I choose to feed my kids… but I also think there could be benefit in making sure kids aren’t eating JUST JUNK. What would you do if you were these parents? —> Dad Blasts School for Chastising His Over Daughter’s Chocolate Bar Lunch.
Death to the Chicken Finger! What kids ate just a few decades ago was drastically different than it is today. How we created an entire generation of unsophisticated, PICKY EATERS and why we must stop this taste-less cycle! —> Tyranny of the Chicken Finger!

Since starting to track my macronutrients, I’ve learned that I was eating far fewer protein then I thought I was! I thought I’d share my recent favs, including some that are really QUICK AND EASY!
Canned tuna has been great for putting on my lunch salads. Especially when your would-be lunch is devoured by a hungry 4-year-old. Wild Planet is high quality, clean, and isn’t just mush in the can. Plus, it stores well in the desk drawer!
I’ve also been making my Mocha Protein Smoothie (the coffee part is definitely optional), eating hard-boiled eggs, mugs of broth, and adding Vital Proteins collagen powder to anything and everything liquid!
When I’m on the move (which is a lot) I take with me Rx Bars* (they are made with egg white protein) and the new Epic Liver Bars (no liver taste). Or I pack our favorite Sweet Heart Jerky (another great way to get in organ meats) or grab a bag of Sustain-A-Pak jerky*. (*COUPONS FOR THESE BELOW)
