The House of Gainz Is Shaping Up!
As followers of ours are aware, we’ve been steadily assembling our new home gym that we’ve (somewhat ironically, but also because we ♥ GoT) named “House of Gainz.” Because that room used to be a multifunctional carpeted indoor room, we spent this week restoring the roll up garage door, taking out the carpet and hanging rings from the ceiling. We then set-up our new Strength Shop yoke, four tractor tires and more weights than any one person should have. Our garage has now been transformed to a gym that now looks like this:
We’re so excited to start using our awesome new space! Make sure to follow along in Instagram as Stacy begins training nightly House of Gainz! We plan to put up some art, get a few more pieces of equipment and then officially share more about the whole process on the blog!
In the Kitchen for Us!
Earlier this week the fall cold bug hit our house, and thus inspired several new recipes
This past week the fall cold bug hit our house, and thus inspired several meals to keep us going. When Stacy is sick, she craves bread-y type foods, so Matt invented an AWESOME Autumn Breakfast Cake that I can’t believe we never had before. Filled with spices, apples, zucchini and carrots (plus a few other things) it is just what you need on a cool morning. Sometimes out of necessity, genius recipes are born.
And how did they come out looking like cinnamon rolls? With this totally awesome Cinnamon Roll Cake pan! How cool is that!?
Of course we couldn’t just survive on (paleo) breads alone, so we also invented a new chicken noodle soup made with Spaghetti Squash from our Tutorial Thursday.
Speaking of soup, did you see the Baked (not) Potato Soup from Steakhouse Inspired Dinner from Real Life Paleo that we shared on Sunday? We just can’t wait for the book to come out in November that we keep giving you recipes in advance!
I can’t believe it is LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY! Eeek! Now would also be the time to start truly freaking out about our crazy busy, I mean super fun book tour! Make sure you mark your calendars when we will be near you! For full details of the tour you can see more info here.
On the Airwaves and Getting Noticed!
This week on The Paleo View Podcast Stacy and Sarah talk a bit about the upcoming Paleo View Book Signing Tour, talk about the sweetener alternative lucuma powder, and answer questions on self-control and challenges. Ever feel like you are constantly battling self-control issues? Make sure to listen in on this episode for some tips!
Hey, by the way! CHECK IT OUT!!! We were nominated in TWO categories in the “Best Of Paleo 2014” from Paleo Magazine! We are honored and so excited to be nominated for our N’Oatmeal Fruit Sweetened Cookies and The Paleo View Podcast and would LOVE your vote! We also noticed that you can vote for your favorite paleo hashtag, and we were stoked to see #morevegetablesthanavegetarian and #bonebrothheals ! THANK YOU for the support, please keep your fingers crossed!
Stacy’s Picks for this week! The Best New Paleo Recipes of the Week
Stacy’s Pinterest obsession continue this week and she was busy adding LOTS of new recipes to her Paleo Pinterest boards. You can follow all the boards to make sure you never miss what catches our eye! There were lots of new recipes added, but these are some of her favorites!
I’m sure you have seen that super expensive Butternut Squash jarred pasta sauce in Whole Paycheck? Well, Steph from Stupid Easy Paleo just made her own version that is way cheaper to make, and can even be frozen for an easy dinner down the road. I bet it would be yummy with some ground sausage too!
Ali from Inspiralized makes some awesome veggie centered recipes that are almost always paleo, or if they aren’t, they usually have a simple substitution that can make them so. This week she created a Daikon Noodles and Broccolini with Asian Pork Meatballs. To make #paleo , simply sub coconut aminos for the soy sauce!
Some other great recipes this week were The Domestic Man’s Oven Roasted Pernil (Puerto Rican Pork Shoulder), Free Range Katy’s Simple Taco Seasoning, and Tomato & Coconut #CrockPot Chicken Curry with Delicata Squash & Kale by So Let’s Hang Out.
And while alcohol is a special treat, once-in-a-while kind of thing, this Ginger Apple Kombucha Cocktail by Beth of Tasty Yummies caught Stacy’s eye for a couple of reasons! We have always loved gin and Kombucha drinks, but even though this one is made with vodka, it has ginger which is of course one of Stacy’s favorite flavors! We might just have to give it a try over the weekend.
