Stacy’s Weekly Wrap-Up, Apr 26th: Spring Break Part 2 ft. T-Swift & Puerto Rico

I last shared about our family Spring Break to visit my mom in North Carolina. It was lovely to have family time away. But shortly after getting back I was packing up, this time for a solo trip! I had a wonderful time seeing Taylor Swift in concert in Florida and then heading down to Puerto Rico for a work trip.

The reason for this trip: To Puerto Rico via Tampa, FL

This trip in Puerto Rico was an incredible experience. While I enjoyed an incredible time with colleagues (friends), I was there with Beautycounter for a first ever trip of its kind. It was a honor to be there, because the trip was recognizing those who are being the change through diversity, equity, and inclusion in their business.

And, we cannot achieve this mission without more advocates. Whether it’s just passively talking about the importance of switching to safer with friends or family or seriously working a business to earn income – there is room for you here. Please, come sit (work) with me; e-mail me if any of this tugs at your heart, or you simply want to earn the next trip with me!

Tampa & Taylor Swift

My first stop was to visit my dear friend Jennifer Robins of Predominately Paleo. We had such a great time catching up, and even found time to record a podcast together… literally in the same room! We were chatting and I said, “we HAVE to record this!” She was gracious enough to have a candid conversation about cosmetic plastic surgery and other aesthetic procedures that now you all get to enjoy! The fact that she doesn’t love doing podcasts and always says yes to me makes me feel incredibly special.

Even though we had a little work time, we ended up having a great day! We kept laughing, hanging, eating, and snuggling with her pups. We had a #foodbloggersinthewild moment at Jackson’s Bistro Bar & Sushi where we shared some sushi and I enjoyed a roasted beet salad with steak and a passionfruit mojito mocktail. Friend time always fills my cup!

It was time to say goodbye to Jen and meet my sister Jackie for the Taylor Swift concert (!!!) It was both anxiety-producing and incredibly sweet to be in a stadium surrounded by “Swifties” belting their (our) hearts out to all of our faves. It’s definitely a night I won’t forget!

Despite it being in a HUGE outdoor arena (75,000 of Tay’s closest friends), she did an incredible job owning the space and also bringing us together. It really felt like we were one when our GPS-location bracelets lit up to the tune of songs, making shapes, waves, and all kinds of other messages that literally brought the crowd together as one!

Voices of Change in Puerto Rico

Where do I even start? For a whirlwind long- weekend trip, I sure packed a lot in! It was full of  amazing people, big hair (ohhhh humidity), breathtaking sites and culture, and some incredible food! I cannot even tell you how exciting it was to enjoy food without worry. No stress about nightshades or corn, I relaxed in the moment without fear. I was so relaxed I even decided to go completely outside my comfort zone and visit a psychic tarot card reader. And honestly, I LOVED it. More details here:

What a journey that has been! And to now, I was able to just immerse myself in Old San Juan at night and smell the ocean air!

One of my favorite “souvenirs” to pick-up when I travel is local artisan jewelry pieces. I loved that Beautycounter walks-the-walk in supporting local, women-owned businesses and brought them in to gift us swag. I picked out a couple pairs from Alma Dura Jewelry. It was so hard to choose!

Who doesn’t need a photo shoot near the ocean on vacation? Thanks, Madi, for the pics!

It was truly such an honor to be on this trip with Beautycounter. Beauty to me is having products that actually perform, working with people who actually care, and knowing that we don’t need fo sacrifice our health or who we are to feel good in the skin we’re in. Until one day, all communities will have access to better options through the change. That’s what we are here celebrating and advocating for.

Thank you for being part of this community, whatever form that takes. You are helping to make a difference!
