It’s been a couple of years since I’ve gotten back into reading, and I’m thrilled to have exceeded my goal of 55 books in 2024! In 2022, I wrapped up with my best dozen books of the year and for 2023 you can get a run down of all 52 books I read. Of this years’ books – fiction and non-fiction – here are my top recommendations of the Best Books of 2024.
Best Books of 2024: Stacy’s Top 6
My overall top favorites aren’t necessarily the ones I find myself recommending regularly. I want to help others rediscover their love of reading: audiobooks, books on my Kindle, and the good ole’ paperback every now and then. Last year I wrapped up with my and I’m excited to share this year’s favorites from the 56 books I read.
Overall, these are the books that long after I finished them I still think about the characters, the worlds, or the lessons I learned:
- Tom Lake by Ann Pratchett
- Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD
- The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gronichec
- The Small and the Mighty: Twelve Unsung Americans Who Changed the Course of History, From the Founding to the Civil Rights Movement by Sharon McMahon
- Nora Goes Off Scriptby Annabel Monaghan
- Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao

Reading Tools
In addition to my Best Books of 2024, these are some of the “reading tools” I recommended for the holidays, but I think they are great gifts year-round for those readers in your life:
- Blue Light Blocking Clip Light – Perfect for your late-night reading sessions to help you ease into sleep. I actually bought this for myself for Christmas! The ultimate combination of functionality and sleep-friendly lighting with potential skin and health benefits? And under $14?! Yes. please!
- Bose Ultra Open Earbuds – These are on my wishlist this year, as they have an open ear design that allow you to hear all of what’s around you while enjoying rich, private sound. Plus, they are water resistant with a long charge life!
- Kindle Paperwhite -While you can certainly opt to get the newest version, I’d recommend getting an older, simple, refurbished version for 1/3 of the price! This super slim e-book reader is just that, perfect for the purist.
- The gift of actual paper books – an experience all readers enjoy at least every once in a while!
- Audible Subscription, which I personally have gifted because of how much I enjoy it myself! Most of what I read is done on via audio, which – yes, counts!
