Is It Real podcast: Fact-Checking Everything from Wellness Trends & Media Myths to Toxic Conspiracies with Stacy Toth
As many of you know, I am the author of 3 bestselling paleo diet cookbooks. I spoke on international stages, hosted wellness events, and co-hosted an award-winning top rated health and wellness podcast. I subsequently woke up during the pandemic. I realized (at a very scary time) that many peers in my community didn’t believe in foundational science or public health. As an educated researcher of cultural phenomenon, it sparked an concerned curiosity in me. I since continued my education with certifications in mental health and at Harvard Business School to learn more about influence and power for good.
Why this, why now, why me?
I transitioned my executive career in Federal Regulation working with Agencies like NIH and CMS into a 15 year wellness career. I learned invaluable things that have positively impacted my overall wellbeing as a person – both within alternative and traditional medicine. I’ve also learned that many so-called “experts” deem themselves as such without any formal education or certification. And who, not coincidentally, are misreading and misunderstanding science. And who, not coincidentally, are misreading and misunderstanding science and spreading misinformation.
There’s always a kernel of truth when myths and conspiracies are formed. But, how deep does that go? I want to help us all uncover the truth, whatever it may be, so that we can make informed decisions for ourselves and loved ones.
With both an education in cultural criticism and a career in wellness, I am uniquely positioned to take a critical look at things. Even ones I once positioned as healthy. Much like I have done for years already, here on this site and on my original syndicated top podcast The Whole View, I’m fact-checking what the research really says.
I am starting fresh and broadening the horizon.
I’ve always loved thinking deeper on popular fads! In Is It Real podcast, I’ll have a series of shows dedicated to one topic. Each will be a deep dive into the facts and truth behind something, as well as the misinformation.
I’ll bring you along as I research why people think they need coffee enemas or chia seed water when they wake up, on how new administration policies and recommendations could help or hurt health protective regulations, on if conspiracy theories have any validity or are simply the result of toxic fear-based myths, and much more on what may be true or what may be harmful and rooted in pseudoscience.
Together let’s figure out, is it real?
