Hi friends- here’s a look at our week, including our favorite healthier, fruit-based and fruit-sweetened desserts!
We had some INSANELY good eats this week, thanks to our meal plan! Have you ever seen a better looking chicken?! Our famous, THE Bacon Chicken is cooked on a bed of cabbage, which turns into complete lusciousness. The concept of meal-planning has been around for a long time, but we just recently jumped on that bandwagon… and are loving it! To see what we eat every week, check out our What We Ate Wednesday posts.
One our favorite ways to eat salmon: smothered with dill and lemons, paired withTwice Baked Mac and Cheese and Sweet Kale Salad with Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing (<— ALL those recipes are on the blog!). This. This is how you keep Paleo interesting!
If you follow me on Instagram, you might be aware of my long-time drink obsession. Cocoa Manna (brewed cacao) and Vital Proteins (adds nutrients and subtle sweetness) Almond Milk Lattes (smooth, creamy deliciousness). Having a great-tasting warm beverage that I enjoy and feel good about drinking is good for the body and good for the soul! (10% off Cocoa Manna and Vital Proteins this month – details below!)
The family that planks together, gets to watch TV together- that’s a thing, right? In order to garner some television time, we had to first meet our activity goals for the day, so we did a mini-workout with planks and stair climbers! When the boys see us doing an activity, they want to immediately join in – which always makes us appreciate how much they learn from our behaviors and how our daily choices impact their lives. They are watching, which is why we’re so thankful for finding the Paleo lifestyle.
Whenever we can, we choose desserts and snacks that are fruit-based or sweetened with fruit we love that are sweet-tasting but also come wrapped up with vitamins, minerals and fiber. Here are some of our favorite:
Fruit-Based & Fruit-Sweetened Eats!
Whether we roll them in coconut or chop them up for adding to cookies- we love the caramel-y flavor of Medjool dates! They’re the perfect touch of sweetness for baked good and treats.
This is my number one favorite kitchen gadget! The isi Cream Whipper turns coconut milk or grass-fed cream into luscious whipped cream, which we love for topping lattes and hot cocoa, or for layering on fresh berries and waffles.
For on-the-go snacks and lunch boxes, the boys love these no-sugar, nothing-added crispy baked apple chips. They are crispy, crunchy and full of apple flavor!
Another favorite fruit-sweetened snack for the boys is Pure Fruit and Veggie Strips; sweetened with fruit only and with an extra dose of veggies (that they won’t even notice), these are a great alternative to fruit snacks!
Larabars are a staple in our house, and containing mostly nuts, dates, and coconut (and in every flavor you can think of!) a couple bites of a Larabar makes for a satisfying dessert. These mini bars are perfect for little hands!
