Hi Friends- here’s a look at our week, plus our recommended healing foods after an indulgent holiday!
We spent part of the holiday with Matt’s side of the family, which is always a blast with good food and great scenery! We enjoyed gluten-free blueberry pancakes for breakfast (Paleo pancake mix now available at OSPS!), which meant it was all protein and veg for me at lunch with turkey and ham, roasted brussels sprouts, and a quick slaw. A simple but delicious lunch!
The boys got to explore the great outdoors while we were there, and were finally old enough to go out by themselves (with a walkie talkie). No TV or video games for days, just nature and games with family and friends – couldn’t be better!
Diet is a BIG part of healthy living, but sometimes it isn’t enough. One branch of my health journey has been working on my stress levels and incorporating more relaxation, which isn’t always the easiest thing for me. 2015 was the year I really focussed on spending more time with the family, which brought me SO MUCH JOY. It was a great goal that we will continue to pursue in 2016. Cat snuggles don’t hurt either- after all, pets have been scientifically proven to reduce stress! And this purring ball of fur is instantly calming!
Something else I continue to work on is recognizing when I am tense and my stress is escalating, which is what I am hoping this handy little gadget can help teach me. It’s not an inexpensive device, but if it helps me to recognize the moments when I need to relax, it’s worth the price of a couple massages. Spire monitors your breathing patterns and alerts you when your breathing is erratic, indicating that you are tense. Learning to recognize this and correct the behavior will be an awesome improvement. I can’t wait to try it out more and share my results with you all!

Back for the second year with totally new recipes! The Best of Paleo 2015 features recipes from over 30 of the top names in the Paleo community like Juli Bauer, Danielle Walker, Mark Sisson, Brittany Angell, Steph Gaudreau, Russ Crandall, and many more. This year’s group of contributors is overflowing with talent, bringing the eBook to nearly 500 pages of recipes!
The pinnacle of healing foods: liver! Epic Liver Bites, which are full of grass-fed beef liver, but don’t taste like it = completely genius. Even the kids will eat these. Keep them on hand for your organ meat fix! And if you’re a OSPS shopper: these bites were just added to the shop! Woo hoo!
We can’t talk about healing without mentioning probiotics, and we prefer to get ours in food form through fermented veggies and kombucha. Gingerade from GT is a family-favorite flavor, and we love having a fun drink option that is both great-tasting and health-promoting!
