A Healthy Valentine's Recipe Round-Up

I love doing these recipe Round-Ups! As a blogger, getting to “share” a post with other bloggers is kind of like having a party with them. What’s not fun about that? And, even better, readers get the benefit of having recipes they can trust to be grain-free, legume-free and refined sugar-free (most are dairy-free too) recipes for special times in their lives!

This post is all about Valentine’s Day. It’s a day of love. And as corny as it is, or as frustrating as it has become because of the mass marketing piranhas, it (like most holidays) is special in our family. Cole told me the other day how excited he was to get to celebrate the people he loves in his life. His class knows he helped write a book and he’s excited to share “one of his treats” from it with them. We ordered DIY “treat bag toppers” for Cole and Finian to give to their friends paleo treats instead of store bought goodies.

Finian even got to make a Valentine card in school and took a class field trip at the post office to put them in the mail! It’s activities like these that allow our family to take the holiday back and claim it as our own. We’re learning. We’re creating. We’re thinking of and loving other people. We don’t need red plastic boxes and over priced store-bought cards. We can make them ourselves as a symbol for how much we admire, care for or love someone in our lives. If that’s something you too strive to achieve, I’m hopeful these recipes from some fantastic bloggers are here to make it easier!
