    Thank you for talking about food addiction. I am in therapy and have looked into eating disorder programs, however, they are not geared for people who binge eat, only anorexia and the binge/purge cycle for people who are underweight. They force you to eat pasta, cakes, pizza, etc.. to “stop you from fearing food.” They will not allow a Paleo diet, calling it too restrictive and disordered eating because it cuts out so many food groups. Are there people out there who have treated binge eating disorder and helped people who want to be Paleo? It’s interesting because my doctors who treat my bipolar recommend a Paleo diet to manage the disorder, but the mental health professionals who work with eating disorders will not consider Paleo as an option. (At least none that I have found yet.)

    I was also in Overeaters Anonymous as well as lost a lot of weight on Weight Watchers (and gained it all back), but again, they all promote diets that are not so restrictive as Paleo and get pretty upset at the idea of Paleo, so its not a supportive environment. And frankly, most of the Paleo forums get pretty annoyed with people who are “weak, lazy, and make up excuses” and struggle with sticking with Paleo. How do we create a supportive environment for all of us?

    • This is the only way I know how to create that environment, and with podcasting here and on Paleo for Women as well as Paleo Magazine Radio the message IS spreading! 🙂
