This was a really thorough and helpful post that we know you all will enjoy. Visit Sylvie’s blog for her fantastic food photography and delicious recipes. Mother’s Day is coming up soon and what better way to celebrate the moms in your life than to treat them to a special homemade meal or gift.

Forget store-bought presents and gift cards; I’d be willing to bet that what most moms want for Mother’s Day is for someone to just take of them for a change. (Well, that and maybe a good night’s sleep.) Perhaps that’s where the tradition of breakfast in bed or Mother’s Day brunch comes from; while husband and kids are busy preparing a delicious meal, mom finally gets to sleep in!

Hosting a small brunch at home can be a really thoughtful way to celebrate Mother’s Day while catching up with friends and family. Keep it simple and prep, assemble and cook as much ahead of time as possible, or just invite guests into the kitchen, put on a pot of coffee and have them lend a hand for a more casual affair. Some of our most cherished memories are made in the kitchen and around the table so make the meal a collaborative effort and let the moms relax for a change with a cup of coffee or a mimosa.

Whether you’re making mom breakfast in bed, treating her to brunch or want to surprise her with a special dessert or edible gift this year, I’ve put together a collection of recipe ideas that are sure to please. (Just make sure you do the dishes afterwards.)

And if you’re a mom then just hand this list to your family or leave it up on your computer screen until someone gets the hint!

Breakfast in Bed:

Treat mom to a stack of All Day I Dream About Food’s light and fluffy coconut flour pancakes.

… or fresh4five’s nut-free and coconut-free waffles made using ground raw sunflower seeds and arrowroot flour.

There’s nothing more tempting than the scent of The Urban Poser’s cinnamon rolls in the air especially when they are gluten-free and grain-free like.

Healthful Pursuit’s Caramel apple doughnuts sound pretty amazing with a cup of coffee.

If mom’s not a coffee drinker then make her a cup of Gourmande in the Kitchen’s spiced turmeric tea (just omit the persimmon if it’s not in season).

… and serve her a slice of Gourmande in the Kitchen’s pear almond clafoutis to go with that cup of tea.

… or maybe Nom Nom Paleo’s dark chocolate and cherry scones.

Easy Brunch Ideas:
