Celebrating Matt’s Birthday (Our Weekly Recap)

Always behind the scenes, Matt is the glue that holds our family together… and our blog, and our Beautycounter business. It’s his birthday week, and we’re honoring him in this week’s recap! He’s got unique taste, and we’re sharing some of his favorite things- and yes, they’re nerdy!

Our Real Life

Happy Birthday to my best friend, partner, love, and father to my kids! I could never have imagined our lives together to be this amazing, but it’s “all because 2 people fell in love.” …and then fought to stay that way! We’ve learned to love the faults – not in spite of them. Over time, that desire to want to be together makes us more appreciative and it becomes easier, but with more depth and commitment than before.

We’ve been honest about how hard this year was on us. Is on us. It doesn’t magically get better one day. We wake up every day determined to find the positive, assume the best intentions, and love unconditionally. I’d like to think this birthday of his is only 1/3 of our lives, which means we have many more together. We dream of being near our boys as adults, of opening our gluten-free B&B, and of holding hands for the rest of our lives in rocking chairs on the porch.

Each birthday has never drawn emotions other than joy for us. It’s a celebration of being alive – of the years we’ve had so far, and an opportunity for so much more ahead. We’re grateful for each other, our lives, and you all being here to root us on.

p.s. how lucky am I to have FOUR Valentines?! It was a gorgeous day, so we had an early dinner at the town center and then walked around, picking up cupcakes to bring home and eat while we watch the olympics. Just perfect.

In case you were wondering, Wesley grew up and got cool while we were watching Grace and Frankie. [and yes, those are totally his Darth Vader Hannah jammies].
